2024 EMI Online Professional Development Course—《ASU Faculty Support Courses》

I. Aim: To assist faculty members from nationwide colleges in enhancing  EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) teaching abilities,

NSYSU Resource Center for Bilingual Education offers online EMI course ASU Faculty Support Courses. The courses are developed by Arizona State University (ASU) with funding from the Open Society University Network (OSUN) and consist of four main theme courses.  The course overview can be browsed here.

II. The course includes four modules:

  1. Teaching Students in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) Contexts: introduces strategies that help L2 learners overcome language barriers and more effectively address language issues   
  2. Flipped Classroom Model: learning planning flip classroom to promote student success
  3. Engaging and Supporting Learners in EMI Contexts: provides various techniques to help teachers assist students in achieving academic success in EMI environment      
  4.  Best Practices for Online Teaching and Learning in EMI Contexts: helps teachers develop learning objectives and activities suitable for EMI environments and improves student engagement in online contexts    

III. Applicable to:   Faculty members from universities and colleges nationwide (Priority for EMI instructors). There are 100 slots available for this round.  Once the slots are filled, applications will no longer be accepted.
IV. Registration Period:  From now until 3/22 (Fri)
V. Study Term: 4/8(Mon) - 5/31(Fri), a total of 8 weeks [account activation expected to be done on 4/1(Mon)]
