"Student motivation” is often one of the top concerns voiced by faculty. This workshop will attempt to address this complex issue by exploring Dörnyei’s research on motivational strategies in language learning. Participants will reflect on their classroom environments and its effects on students, with the ultimate goal of each participant identifying options to inspire their own students.“

Description:
This talk explores how corpus linguistics skills can facilitate English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) by providing data-driven insights into language use and teaching practices. Through a creative and interactive approach, participants will engage in activities designed to analyze linguistic patterns in EMI classrooms. The focus will be on key features such as building meaning awareness, selecting precise wording, and understanding interactional strategies. By exploring linguistic data hands-on and engaging in experience sharing, participants will identify language trends that impact teaching effectiveness and student comprehension. The speaker will also share personal experiences of implementing EMI at National Chengchi University.
